Commissioned by the European Environmental Bureau (EEB), we analysed the the accidents, injuries, and deaths linked to fossil fuel heating and cooking technologies, finding the technologies to be a significant risk to health in the EU. In support of our findings, we compiled statistics from a range of EU countries, developing a network amongst safety and fire organisations in the EU in order to gain access to publicly unavailable data. The press launch for this report took place in Brussels on September 30th 2024.
Commissioned by Friends of the Earth US., we researched and managed the development of two briefing papers aimed at helping investment banks move away from harmful financial activities in richly biodiverse, so-called 'No Go Areas'. This project involved the management of various contributors, and coordination of their ideas into a coherent flowing structure, allowing us to develop a series of convincing, persuasive, briefing papers. Have a look at the papers here and here.
Drawing on our earlier report, Germanwatch e.V. contracted us to write a public-facing blog series about the state of climate tipping point science and the potential socio-economic impacts of crossing specified tipping points. Demonstrating our capacity to transform academic research into concise and compelling insights for the general public, the series can be found here.
Consulting for Germanwatch e.V., we provided a detailed and comprehensive overview of the scientific and policy debate around tipping points in the climate system. Drawing on our desk research and the numerous stakeholder interviews we conducted, our report analysed the state of scientific research, detailed the socio-economic impacts of crossing specific tipping points, constructed an overview of the institutional landscape of tipping point governance, and provided concrete recommendations for preventing the crossing of tipping points and reducing the scale of the damage once crossed.
Consulting for Bord Iascaigh Mhara (the National Seafood Agency of Ireland) on a project to assess the carbon footprint of their organisation, we helped the client to manage, fact-check, and edit the development of a carbon footprint report (published in 2023). The work involved reporting on decarbonisation in the marine sector, including making recommendations for doing so across the organisation, and SMEs who work with them. These recommendations included the adoption of electric vessels, solar PV solutions, and heat pumps.
Consulting for a consortium of NGOs - Germanwatch e.V., NewClimate Institute, and The World Resources Institute - we delivered a report identifying a range of powerful convictions about trade-offs between development and climate action. Drawing on our desk research and the numerous stakeholder interviews we conducted, we analysed the degree to which these convictions figure as deterring factors for investment in climate measures in the environment of multilateral development banks.
